Getting To and Around Dundee

Flights

While there is no direct flight to Dundee, travel there is easy via London Heathrow (LHR) > Glasgow (GLA) or Edinburgh (EDI) on British Airways, or via Keflavík Iceland (KEF) > Glasgow (GLA).

British Airways is the standard for getting to Scotland, but consider Icelandair – efficient flight, smaller airport (KEF), and decent fares. Get the extra legroom seats for a few bucks more. There’s no meal service but you can buy food and adult beverages with a credit card. And although there’s slightly higher fares for checked bags (we suggest only carry on if possible), this is our preferred way to get to Scotland.

Getting to Dundee

Once you arrive at either Glasgow (GLA) or Edinburgh (EDI) airports, the easiest and most scenic way to get to Dundee is by train. Relax and take in the Scottish countryside as you cross the River Tay on your way into the Dundee City Center.

First, you’ll catch a bus at either airport which will take you to the Glasgow or Edinburgh ScotRail stations. From there, the train from either city takes about 1.5 hours.  

From Glasgow (GLA) Airport

Take the Glasgow Airport Express from the airport to Glasgow Queen Street station. From there, travel direct to Dundee via ScotRail.

From Edinburgh (EDI) Airport

Take the Airport Bus to the Waverley Bridge, which is five minutes walk to the railway station (Waverley Station, where Harry Potter left for Hogwarts!). From there, travel direct to Dundee via ScotRail.

Transport in and around Dundee

Buses and taxis are plentiful in the City Square. Most of Dundee’s attractions close together and are accessed either by walking or by quick cab rides. Uber is NOT available in Dundee at this time.
